
Contact Special Education Coordinator Amy Kroll at 402-274-4131 for information regarding services available to special needs children, ages birth to 21. Programs range from early intervention to K-12 resource. Speech, occupational and physical therapies, and life skills classes are also part of District 29 support services. A transiton program is available for high school level students who qualify. District 29 also has an inclusive preschool program, which offers opportunities for children with disabilities to be included and receive individually designed programs to support their special needs. 1989 graduate of Auburn Public Schools. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education with endorsements in Elementary Education and Elementary/Secondary Special Education at Peru State College. Amy also went on to earn her Master's Degree in Curriculum from PSC. She has been part of the District 29 staff since 1995, first as a high school resource teacher then, in addition to teaching, Mrs Kroll became the district's Transition Specialist. As the Special Education Coordinator, Amy works closely with teachers and the district's speech, occupational and physical therapists to coordinate services for special needs children, ages birth to twenty one. She is also involved in various local and state special education committees. Of her role within the Auburn School system Amy says, "Working with students with disabilities and their families has been a passion of mine. I believe Auburn has exceptional special education programs and will continue to do so. I am always willing to learn about new innovations in the field of special education". Amy and her husband Rob are the parents of two children, Chloe and Morgan. Assisting Amy in the Special Education office is Cathy Krieger. As Office Manager, Cathy handles day-to-day administrative duties such as answering the telephone, maintaining files, supporting teacher needs, updating information on the web-based Student Record System, and developing forms for teacher and therapist use. Cathy is also responsible for compiling information for the High Ability Learner program, tracking the special education budget, researching and organizing information for various reports required by the Nebraska Department of Education, and maintaining the special education portion of the school web page. |
